From Georgia. Day Three

Today was the first full day with everybody together in Georgia. The day started out at 8:30 a.m. for me with a little news check. Corey, Corey’s dad and mom and I then got to work on what turned out to be an awesome breakfast of eggs, bacon, pancakes, biscuits and coffee and orange juice. After the cleanup, the rain came. But we would not be held back. Corey’s dad brought back the guns for the others to shoot. So we did that for about an hour and a half. But this time, he brought out even more (bigger) guns. It was pretty amazing. After that, we ate a good lunch then went into town. Now, this was like drive for thirty minutes town. But that’s o.k. We went to a couple stores and looked around. No big. We did go into this amazing old books store and I found this cool book called Into the Abyss. I might try to get a copy and read it. Our last stop was a coffee shop called the L & L Beanery. It was a converted bank and it was cool looking. But what got me was the coffee was so good. Well, we made our way back home. Ryan hadn’t driven the ATVs so I went out with him on those and drove him around the area. It was fun. It was wet and soggy but it was still good… actually I think it was even more fun. We went back and played some pool and then made a delicious dinner. After that we jumped in the hot tub for half an hour. Then the Wii came on and we played for a while. And now I am blogging about my day. It was fun. I can’t wait until tomorrow when we do some more cool stuff. Ok. Check the Flickr because I added some awesome photos. Later!

From Georgia. Day Two

Wow. What a day. Today was day 2 of our excursion into the mountains of Georgia. I last left you at around 1:45 (ish). Corey and I went to bed at 2:10 with an alarm set for 10:10. At 10:00, the intercom system went off with the music of Randy Travis. Corey’s dad then goes outside and fires off 6 rounds of a 38 Revolver right outside our window. Next thing I know, Corey’s pillow is flying over me through the air. What a horrible way to wake up. Oh well, Corey knows he will never live down the day when I found out he had the craziest parents. So we got up and got showers and so on and so forth. We then decided to take Corey’s dad’s guns out and fire off some rounds. We did so for like an hour and a half. That was fun. I did o.k. I got some cool pictures taken of me and I took some awesome pictures. That was good. Lunch rolls around and we made sandwiches and ate out on the porch in the amazing weather. Speaking of weather, the weather has been awesome and it has been cool and sunny. Wow! Anyway, we then jumped in the truck and went to the Chatahoochee National Forest Fish Hatchery. It was cool. It is these tanks of Rainbow Trout and the population in the river is controlled from these tanks. It was pretty cool. Mr. McCall walked around with me giving me some cool facts and such. Next, we took a drive down the road to this awesome lake with some amazing views. It was amazing. We took some pictures and walked around for a while. We then went home and ate some food and decided to take the ATVs out again. This time however, we went through the woods. Corey’s dad then took us up the mountain that is right behind their cabin. We looked out over the mountain and drove through the forest. It was really cool. About an hour later, Jeff, Ryan, Lauren, and Jeff’s parents got here. It was good to see everybody. We had an awesome dinner and then we lit the fire pit and hung out around the fire for a while. After that we played a few games and just hung out in the common room. I am now in a room with the guys and we are getting ready to go to bed. We plan to wake up under our own power, but what time that will be at is still undecided. Until next time, have a good day.

From Georgia. Day One

Day one of my excursion into the mountains is officially over as I jump into bed and get ready for another exciting day. Let’s recap. On tuesday, I jumped into Corey’s car at approximately 6:10 a.m. 14 hours,three meals and rush hour(s) in Atlanta later, I walked through the door of the McCall’s cabin. It was dark out, needless to say. But I am here now and that is all that matters. So that and lounging around on the couch for a couple hours was Tuesday.

Wednesday was awesome. I woke up at 9:00 a.m. Corey, although thoroughly unwilling, woke up at 9:10 a.m. After a cup of coffee we set to the arduous task of setting up the grocery list based on meals we wanted while here in Georgia. Corey, Naomi and I jumped into the Jeep and drove off. We stopped at this buffet called The Village where we had some amazing deep south, home-cooked food. It was pretty awesome. Mercier’s was our next stop where we picked up a couple of treats… I will leave out the details because it is a surprise for Jeff, Ryan and Lauren, who are on their way up today (Thursday). Ingles was our final, and most amusing stop. For you noobs, Ingles is Georgia mountain’s Publix. A full shopping cart and $240.00 dollars later, we all piled back into the Jeep. Again, for you noobs, the Jeep is not the spacious Jeep that may come to mind. It is a real, off-road, down the beaten road Jeep. That all to say Naomi had a fun time in the back seat chillin’ with all the food. And let’s also say that meals up here will be amazing. Anyways, after we unpacked $240.00 worth of food, we pulled out the ATV’s and took a little ride through the woods. We went up to Corey’s grandparent’s cabin which is extremely close to where I am staying. We check the place out just to make sure everything was in good order then went back. On our way back we were stopped by one of the locals who first got upset and used the line “I have talked to the sheriff (about the ATVers and their ATVness) but I don’t know what to do.” He then saw my UCF sweatshirt and we began a pleasant conversation about George O’Leary, the head football coach at UCF. The local knew of O’Leary from being a Georgia Tech fan for so many years. (George O’Leary was the coach at GT before coming to UCF). Anyways, we got home then did a little sight seeing and played some pool in the downstairs common room before eating a delicious spicy mexican tortilla soup. The meal was the perfect end to an awesome day. Corey, Naomi and I then watched the movie “In the Valley of Elah.” I recommend it only for its story line. The content, however, was not so good. After a little N64 (yes, I said N64) we all decided it was time to get some sleep. After all, it was around 1 in the morning. So, it is now, as I sit in bed, that I right to you. Today has been a great day and I can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow as the rest of the gang make the trip up here. Have a safe trip to those of you traveling. Spring Break

So, I am on Spring Break. I am not sure why I capitalized that… I guess I am conforming to the holidaylization of Spring Break in which every college student removes all inhibitions for one week each year, usually in March or April. Either way, I am going home for a couple days (3 to be exact) then I am off to Georgia for a little vacation with some friends (6 days… to be exact). Then I am back to the campus at which I have an English paper awaiting me. Oh well. Call if you are into that sort of thing, but after Tuesday don’t ask to hang out just because I may not be able to accommodate those requests unless Corey finished that time portal thing he’s been working on so diligently. Or was that his Calc 2 homework? Hmm, I can never tell.

So Ryan , Jeff and I got a ton of wings and ate them. We then went to see Vantage Point (which was awesome, by the way). We came home and got ambushed by a bunch of girls with water balloons. We then threw a frisbee around for a while. We then played loaded questions with the same girls that ambushed us. It is now 3:30 a.m. I think I have to be up around 8:45 a.m. I am still unsure of why I am awake. I will fix that. Bye.

This one was totally unplanned, but after an e-mail I received, I just had to post something. This is really for all the CCAers that knew Chloe Lyon. As you all know she was part of the “Schools for Schools” program that raised money for schools in Uganda. Well, I know I was around when this all got started, but this program has just exploded into a passion for Chloe. So much so that she has visited the region and is having so much influence on making a difference in Africa.

The Sun-Sentinel caught wind of this and wrote an article. The article is basically an interview asking Chloe why she is doing what she is doing and what has made her so passionate for this cause, that, in some realms of society, has become such a cliche. The full article can be found here. I urge you to read it and continue to support her as she does what she does.

The other part is a video. It is the pitch she made to be one of ten people going to Washington D.C. to talk with legislators about the crisis in Uganda. Amazing, eh? Please watch the video in its entirety because there is something totally unexpected that happens at the end. Something that she talks about struck me as odd and totally unexpected. But I’ll let you watch it and form your own opinions. You can find the video here.

Something about seeing a friend make such an impact on the world made me smile this morning especially after my Bible study last night and in reading the book “Don’t Waste Your Life” by John Piper.

I Need Your Help

So, my dad gave me this cool camera last semester and I was like “Hey, thanks.” Well, now I’m like “Hey, help!” I have soooo many pictures, mainly of you guys, and I want the world to see them… us having so much fun together. So I really need suggestions of how to display these pictures. I mean, I want them online somewhere. My website is going to be up and running soon, but is there anywhere else I can put so many photos that everyone has access to? Is there a solution to the problem of so many pictures. I used this analogy with Jeff: every time Corey makes a random comment or Jeff makes a funny face or Chelsea or Lauren make good food or Ryan is Ryan or Naomi pulls out her Asian skills, I take a picture of it. Now we need somewhere to host those pictures. Ahhhh! Help! Please leave a suggestion in the comments section. Thanks.

P.S. I was contemplating not posting anything until I received some suggestions, but seeing as how I don’t have school tomorrow and I have three blog post ideas lined up, there is no way I can hold back from delivering some fresh news and ideas to my faithful readers.

P.P.S. I just realized that people actually read this blog. I mean, people that I never even thought cared. People that were the last on my list of potential readers. Thanks…
